Can also be fonts used and overset text in a table has bit me once trying to open an older document.
Your only bet may be to pay Markzware to recover the file. Not certain if there is a fee just to submit it for them to say whether it is recoverable or not. Might well be worth it in time and aggravation--much less the expense of a rebuild.
