remove xmp data

We've recently implemented an asset management system in our company. After ingesting a lot of legacy files, I've noticed a large portion of them have thousands of parent, peer and child "versions". I think this may have cause a problem with the size of our SQL database, and I'm being told that info comes from the adobe XMP metadata. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on where that is in the XMP and how to strip it. We managed to find where/how to strip the parent, but the peer and child versions we stall can't quite figure out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
