After reading some of your posts about Photoshop freezing and LR 5 not working on your system I'd have to say it is a hardware problem.
This type of thing just doesn't happen on a computer that has properly functioning hardware. I'm using a 4 year old Windows PC running Windows 7 pro that has been overclocked by 1.4 Ghz from the day I turned it on for the first time. I have never had this type of problem with any program I have used in those 4 years. I even run several virtual machines, a couple at the same time, and never had any problems.
Your hardware problem could be heat because when PS opens and tries to open an image it taxes the CPU and RAM causing them to heat up. If you don't have proper cooling that could cause them to give errors. Try cleaning the dust out of your system. Take the side panel off and make sure all the fans are spinning.
